Fossil pokemon....

Ancient beings from long before us, who have long been extinct.

I peer around my lab in the museum, observing the various fossils of these ancient beings.
I'm currently on the team of scientists attempting to bring these pokemon back.

we're getting close, I think.

I watch as a purplish fluid bubbles through various beakers. We're currently attempting to stabelize the fluid, that when placed on a fossil, will revive it.

of course there's only one way to test it, and so we picked the most undesirable of the fossils as a test specimen.

I observe the badly cracked fossil.
Tiny fissures cover it's entire shape, and it's claws, though sharp, are tiny compared to the others, and frail as well.

The kabutops seems to glare from it's stone imprisonement, it's bones mostly decayed.

luckily all of it's nerve endings are long gone, so it won't feel anything.

I observe the liquid once more before deeming it ready. It's time...

We wheel the fossil into a large room where scientists are observing, I'm not nervous because this is merely a test and is not expected to give results.

I slowly pour the liquid onto the pokemon, and step back as it bubbles into the bones, dissipating.

I watch the eager faces of the scientists, we all hope for some sort of reaction- it's our livelyhood after all.

Suddenly the fossil trembles.
All of the scientists stand up and try for a better view in utter eagerness.
even I am craning my neck, trying to observe the bones.

All at once the trembling stops.

Silence seems unbearable as a clock in the room ticks slowly the seconds.

Suddenly, ever so slowly, a claw reaches from the table.
Soiled, and dripping a mysterious purple goo.

The scientists look shocked at this, but continue to look.

The claw reaches over, and the fossil crawls off.

I feel the bile build in my throat as more of the disgusing purple goo drips off.

Before me stands the fossilized pokemon... dripping purple goo, and bones tinted something between crimson and yellow.

Behind it, mysteriously, a blinding cloud of colour much like a television when it isn't working, floats.

It's bottom half is well hidden by the mysterious cloud, and the other scientists seem to be horrified.

The creature lets out a strange and garbled cry, and feebly lifts it's claws to look at them.

I'll never forget what happened next.

The skeleton somehow developed an evil smile, one that shone of pure insanity.

It looked straight towards me and let out it's cry again, grinning with it's empty eye sockets.

I began to back away, frightened of what I had done.

The creature came closer until I was cornered, and it poked it's claw gently into my stomach without breaking skin.
I shivered and stared with fright into it's empty eye sockets, the mysterious static cloud surrounding it buzzed with a high pitch near me.

I felt I was really going to die, but then it lowered it's blade, it's eyesockets still bearing into me.

what have I created?

I look up, to find it gone.
A few of the other scientists flood into the room, and ask me if I'm alright.

"I-I'm fine"

I walked back to my office, and examined the fossil stone carefully.

I noted something... odd... to say the least.

Ancient runes in the shape of unown, a language we have long figured out. I can't tell what it says because of the purple goo, but to be blunt it gave me a bad feeling.

Right above the letters was a carving of the pokemon I had revived, though much more menacing and large.

Once the goo was cleaned off, and samples taken I read the letters aloud, though some were cracked and unreadable.

Missingno. ---- pokemon. do not rev-ve.

There was much more than this, but it looked as though it had been scratched out by a pair of claws.

I sighed and sat back in my chair.
I looked up to the cieling and was met with two empty black sockets, and a swirling cloud of static.

"This is officer jenny. Any news on the death of the pokemon scientist? Is foul play involved?"

The radio burns with static and a voice comes through.

"Jenny, this is Scientist Hayari. We have confirmed only minor details- this looks like some sort of attack. The victim was... was sliced repeatedly with some sort of very sharp claws. Her clothes are badly torn, and most of her body was mangled beyond recognition"

"Hayari, who or what do you think could have done this?"

More static and a tense voice.

"J-Jenny... it's still here..."

"What? What's still there? Describe it!"

More static
"I-It's some sort of pokemon... I've never seen anything like it... I-It's got sharp claws... s-static... AGGGGGGGHHHH"

"Hayari? HAYARI?! ANSWER ME HAYARI!"

More static...

"H-Hayari!? please answer Hayari!"

More static, and a scrambled cry of a pokemon, followed by slicing sounds and distant screaming.

Then suddenly, breathing in the walkie-talkie.

"H-hayari?"

The breathing continues, and a strained voice speaks quietly so I can barely hear.

"J-jenny... Don't come... f-flee... h-have this lab shut down... g-goodbye... J-jenny... one last thing... missing...."

missing?
In-world missingno theory thing :XD:

I mean, it's in the games, but what if it were in-world too?
It obviousoly couldn't be some sort of data thing unless it was somehow computer made and released into the world.

But I like pokemon science better, I mean trial and error, they must have something go wrong at some point ;)

I'm just going to be a buzzkill and remind you.  Pokemon that come from fossils are always the first non-fossil stage.  That's also why no Pokemon that are fossils evolve twice, because the fossil is the basic stage, but it is still a quite good story.
